Safety & anti-scam
Last updated 15 October 2026
Every Verity member passes a live selfie check and a review by our team, so you know the person is real. Being real isn’t the same as being honest, though. These habits keep you safe.
Never send money
Nobody on Verity should ask you for money, gifts, gift cards, crypto, or help with tickets, visas, customs fees, medical bills or an emergency, however good the story. This is the most common scam on dating sites. Report it straight away.
Red flags
- Asks for money or financial help, or offers an investment “opportunity”.
- Wants to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or email very quickly.
- Declares strong feelings after a few letters.
- Avoids video calls or always has a reason not to meet.
- Their story changes, or details don’t match their profile.
Before you meet
- Stay on Verity letters until you trust the person.
- Have a video call first.
- Meet in a busy public place, arrange your own travel and tell a friend where you’ll be.
- Keep your home address, workplace and financial details to yourself.
How to report
Open the member’s profile or your conversation and choose Report. You can share the conversation with our team and block the member at the same time. The member never sees who reported them. Our team reviews every report and can warn, suspend or ban the account; we email you when your report is closed.
In danger?
